Deep Tissue Therapy

60 minutes: $80.00
90 minutes: $110.00

Deep tissue massage is a type of massage therapy that focuses on the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue. It is often used to treat chronic pain, muscle tension, and injuries. Unlike Swedish massage, which is lighter and more relaxing, deep tissue massage is firmer and more focused.

How does deep tissue massage work?

The therapist uses their hands and forearms to apply firm pressure to the muscles and connective tissue. They may also use their elbows or knuckles, but with caution to avoid causing discomfort. The massage strokes are slow and deliberate, and they may follow the grain of the muscle or go across it.

What are the benefits of deep tissue massage?

Deep tissue massage can offer a number of benefits, including:

  • Reduced pain: Deep tissue massage can help to reduce chronic pain, such as lower back pain, neck pain, and headaches.
  • Improved range of motion: Deep tissue massage can help to improve range of motion by breaking up scar tissue and adhesions in the muscles.
  • Reduced stress: Deep tissue massage can help to reduce stress and anxiety by promoting relaxation and releasing tension in the muscles.
  • Improved circulation: Deep tissue massage can help to improve circulation by increasing blood flow to the muscles.
  • Improved athletic performance: Deep tissue massage can help to improve athletic performance by reducing muscle tension and improving flexibility.

What are the risks of deep tissue massage?

Deep tissue massage is generally safe, but there are a few potential risks, such as:

  • Bruising: Bruising is a common side effect of deep tissue massage, especially if you are new to it. The bruising should go away on its own within a few days.
  • Soreness: You may experience some soreness after a deep tissue massage, but this should also go away within a few days.
  • Allergic reaction: If you are allergic to massage oil, you may experience an allergic reaction. Be sure to tell your therapist if you have any allergies.

Who should not get deep tissue massage?

Deep tissue massage is not recommended for people with certain medical conditions, such as:

  • Blood clots: Deep tissue massage can increase blood flow, which could increase the risk of blood clots.
  • Open wounds: Deep tissue massage can irritate open wounds.
  • Osteoporosis: Deep tissue massage can put stress on bones, which could be dangerous for people with osteoporosis.
  • Cancer: Deep tissue massage may not be safe for people with cancer.

Native American Blend Cranio Sacral Therapy

90 minutes: $120.00
120 minutes: $150.00

Cranial Sacral Therapy

Cranial Sacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle manual therapy that focuses on supporting the body's natural healing mechanisms. It involves a light touch to evaluate and facilitate the movement of the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and the fascial system, which surrounds and connects everything in your body.

How does CST work?

CST practitioners use their hands to feel subtle rhythms and restrictions in the body's tissues. By applying gentle pressure, they aim to release these restrictions and improve the flow of CSF and fascial movement. This, in turn, may indirectly influence the central nervous system (CNS), potentially promoting relaxation and healing.

What are the benefits of CST?

Please note: While CST may offer potential benefits, it's crucial to understand that its effectiveness can vary greatly from person to person and depends on individual circumstances. Always consult with a qualified healthcare professional before starting any new therapy.

Some people have reported experiencing improvement in conditions such as:

  • Insomnia: By promoting relaxation and improving sleep quality
  • Fatigue: By addressing underlying issues that may be contributing to fatigue
  • Bell's Palsy: Some studies suggest CST may help improve nerve function in the face
  • Headaches and migraines: By addressing potential contributing factors related to CSF flow and fascial tension
  • Chronic pain: By reducing tension and promoting relaxation in the body
  • Anxiety and stress: By promoting a sense of calm and well-being

Native American Blend Pediatric Cranio Sacral Therapy

45 minutes: $120.00
60 minutes: $150.00

Pediatric Cranial Sacral Therapy

Pediatric Cranial Sacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle, non-invasive manual therapy that focuses on supporting the natural healing mechanisms of infants and children. It is a specialized form of Cranial Sacral Therapy (CST) adapted for the unique needs of young bodies.

How does Pediatric CST work?

A Pediatric CST practitioner uses their hands to gently feel for subtle rhythms and restrictions in the child's body. By applying light pressure, they aim to release these restrictions and improve the flow of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and the fascial system. This, in turn, may indirectly influence the child's central nervous system (CNS), potentially promoting relaxation and healing.

What are the benefits of Pediatric CST?

Please note that while Pediatric CST may offer potential benefits, it's crucial to understand that its effectiveness can vary greatly from child to child and depends on individual circumstances. Always consult with a qualified healthcare professional before starting any new therapy for your child.

Some studies suggest that Pediatric CST may be helpful for a variety of conditions in children, including:

  • Ear infections: By improving drainage and reducing inflammation
  • Colic: By addressing potential contributing factors related to fascial tension and nervous system function
  • Sleep problems: By promoting relaxation and improving sleep quality
  • Torticollis: By gently releasing restrictions in the neck muscles
  • Reflux: By addressing potential contributing factors related to fascial tension and nervous system function
  • Developmental delays: By supporting the body's natural healing mechanisms and promoting overall well-being

Native American Blend Cupping Therapy

60 minutes: $120.00
90 minutes: $150

Cupping Therapy

Ancient Healing Technique Cupping therapy that involves placing special cups on the skin to create suction. Cupping Suction promotes healing by increasing blood flow, relieving muscle tension, and stimulating the body's natural healing response. It has been practiced for thousands of years in various cultures, including ancient Egyptian, Chinese, and Middle Eastern medicine.

How Cupping Works?

Professional Cupping Therapy is to create a vacuum or suction force inside the cup, which pulls the skin and superficial muscle layer upward into the cup. Expanding tiny blood vessels (capillaries) under the skin, drawing fluid into the treated area. Proponents believe this process helps replenish the cupped areas with healthier blood flow and stimulates cellular healing.

Types of Cupping Therapy

There are several types of cupping, with the most common being:

  • Dry Cupping:

This is the most traditional method. Cups are placed on the skin, and a vacuum is created (either by heating the inside of the cup with a flame to remove oxygen, or by using a manual or electrical pump to remove air). The cups are then left in place for a few minutes.

  • Wet Cupping (Hijama):

In this method, small, superficial incisions or punctures are made on the skin before or after the initial suction. The cups are then reapplied to draw out small quantities of blood and extracellular fluid. This is believed to remove "toxins" from the body.

  • Massage Cupping (Running/Sliding Cupping):

After applying oil or lotion to the skin, the cups are moved gently across the affected area, creating a massaging effect while maintaining suction. This is often used for larger muscle groups.

  • Flash Cupping:

Cups are quickly placed and removed repeatedly to stimulate the skin and muscles and rapidly improve circulation.

  • Fire Cupping:

A traditional dry cupping method where a flame is briefly introduced into the cup to create the vacuum before quickly placing it on the skin.

  • Silicone Cupping:

Uses flexible silicone cups that are easy to move and can be used for gentler therapy, facial cupping, or even to reduce cellulite.

Benefits of Cupping

While research on cupping therapy is ongoing and sometimes of low quality, many people report a range of benefits, including:

  • Pain Relief:

Musculoskeletal pain such as back pain, neck pain, knee pain, and shoulder pain.

  • Reduced Muscle Tension:

The suction helps to release tension in muscles and fascia.

  • Improved Blood Flow and Circulation:

Drawing blood to the surface is thought to enhance oxygen and nutrient delivery to tissues.

  • Reduced Inflammation:

Some believe it helps reduce inflammation in various conditions.

  • Detoxification:

By stimulating the lymphatic system and improving circulation, it's thought to help flush out toxins.

  • Stress and Anxiety Reduction:

Promotes relaxation by optimizing and improving Lack of Sleep.

  • Improved Sports Recovery:

Athletes sometimes use it to reduce muscle fatigue and soreness.

  • Improved Skin Health:

May help with conditions like acne and eczema (though it can also worsen them in some cases).

  • Enhanced Range of Motion
  • Digestive Support

Side Effects and Risks

Cupping therapy is generally considered safe when performed by a trained professional. However, potential side effects and risks include:

  • Temporary Marks and Bruising:

The most common side effect is the appearance of round, red, or purplish marks on the skin, which can last for a week or two. These are not true bruises that injure muscle fibers but rather indicate the expansion and breaking of tiny blood vessels.

  • Skin Redness, Irritation, or Mild Discomfort:

The suction can cause local skin reactions.

  • Burns:

Especially with fire cupping if not performed correctly.

  • Infections:

More likely with wet cupping due to the skin being punctured. Proper sterilization of equipment is crucial to prevent the spread of bloodborne diseases.

  • Scars or Blisters:

Though less common, these can occur.

  • Worsening of existing skin conditions:

Such as eczema or psoriasis.

  • Dizziness, Nausea, Fatigue, or Fainting:

These are rare but possible individual reactions.

  • Anemia:

In rare cases, after repeated wet cupping due to blood loss.

  • Bleeding inside the skull:

Extremely rare, reported after cupping on the scalp.

Contraindications

(Who Should Avoid Cupping)

Cupping therapy is not suitable for everyone. It should generally be avoided in individuals with:

  • Bleeding Disorders: Such as hemophilia, or those taking blood thinners/anticoagulants.
  • Compromised Organ Systems: (e.g., cardiovascular disease, heart failure, kidney disease, liver disease).
  • Cancer.
  • Pregnant individuals.
  • Children and older adults with frail skin.

Navajo Nation Work Environment Wellness

Creating a work environment that prioritizes self-care and overall well-being, specifically by promoting professional massage therapy, offers numerous benefits for both employees and the organization.

Why Professional Massage Therapy in the Workplace?

  • Stress Reduction: The modern workplace is often a source of significant stress. Short, focused massage sessions (often chair massages lasting 10-20 minutes) can significantly lower cortisol levels, reduce muscle tension, and promote a sense of calm and relaxation.

  • Improved Physical Health: Prolonged sitting, repetitive motions, and poor posture common in office settings can lead to musculoskeletal issues like back pain, neck stiffness, headaches, and carpal tunnel syndrome. Massage therapy alleviates these issues by improving circulation, reducing muscle tension, and enhancing flexibility.

  • Enhanced Mental Clarity and Focus: By reducing stress and physical discomfort, massage can clear mental fog, improve cognitive function, increase alertness, and boost energy, leading to better decision-making and problem-solving.

  • Boosted Productivity: Relaxed and pain-free employees are more likely to be engaged, focused, and perform at their best. Studies have shown increased productivity after workplace massage.

  • Reduced Absenteeism and Turnover: A healthier, happier workforce experiences fewer stress-related illnesses and injuries, leading to decreased sick days. Furthermore, employees who feel valued and supported are more likely to stay with the company, reducing recruitment and training costs.

  • Improved Morale and Job Satisfaction: Offering massage therapy demonstrates that the company genuinely cares about its employees' well-being, fostering a positive work culture, enhancing job satisfaction, and increasing employee loyalty.

  • Attracting and Retaining Top Talent: In a competitive job market, wellness benefits like onsite massage therapy can be a significant draw for prospective employees and a strong factor in retaining existing talent.

  • Cost-Effective Wellness Solution: Compared to other wellness initiatives, workplace massage can be a relatively cost-effective option with a substantial return on investment through increased productivity, reduced healthcare costs, and higher retention rates.

  • Improved Immune System: By reducing stress and improving circulation, massage can even contribute to a stronger immune system.

Implementing a Professional Massage Therapy Program:

Here's a structured approach to integrate professional massage therapy into your workplace wellness program:

  1. Assess Employee Interest and Needs:

    • Conduct surveys or informal discussions to gauge employee interest in massage therapy.

    • Ask about preferred session times, comfort levels, and any specific areas of discomfort they'd like addressed. This helps tailor the program to their needs.

  2. Define Goals and Budget:

    • Clearly articulate what you hope to achieve (e.g., reduce stress, improve morale, boost productivity).

    • Allocate a realistic budget, considering provider fees, equipment (if purchasing), and desired session frequency (e.g., weekly, bi-weekly, monthly).

  3. Choose a Qualified Service Provider:

    • Select a licensed and insured massage therapist or a reputable corporate massage service company with experience in workplace settings.

    • Check reviews, testimonials, and references.

    • Prioritize providers who bring their own portable chairs or tables and offer flexible scheduling. Some companies offer a range of services beyond chair massage, such as table massage, reflexology, or even mental wellness coaching.

  4. Plan the Logistics:

    • Designate a Quiet Space: Identify a private, quiet area in the office, such as a vacant conference room or a designated wellness room, free from distractions.

    • Create a Booking System: Implement an easy-to-use online scheduling tool to allow employees to book their sessions conveniently. This minimizes disruption to their work.

    • Determine Session Length and Frequency: Common options for chair massage are 10-20 minute sessions. Decide on a frequency that aligns with your budget and employee needs.

    • Waivers and Communication: Ensure employees sign waivers acknowledging voluntary participation. Clearly communicate the benefits of the program, session details, and any preparation needed for the massage.

  5. Promote and Encourage Participation:

    • Use various channels (email, posters, internal communication platforms, team meetings) to promote the program.

    • Highlight the benefits of massage therapy for both physical and mental well-being.

    • Share testimonials from early participants to build interest and trust.

  6. Evaluate and Adjust:

    • Regularly solicit feedback from employees on their experience.

    • Assess the program's impact on key metrics like employee satisfaction, absenteeism, and perceived stress levels.

    • Be prepared to adjust the program based on feedback and results to maximize its effectiveness.

Beyond Massage: A Holistic Approach

While professional massage therapy is a fantastic component, a truly supportive work environment for self-care and well-being should ideally be holistic. Consider complementing massage therapy with other initiatives such as:

  • Ergonomic Workstations: Providing ergonomic assessments and equipment can prevent many musculoskeletal issues.

  • Flexible Work Arrangements: Offering flexibility in schedules and work locations can significantly reduce stress.

  • Mindfulness and Stress Management Workshops: Providing resources for meditation, breathing exercises, and stress coping mechanisms empowers employees.

  • Fitness Programs: Encouraging physical activity through onsite classes, gym memberships, or challenges promotes overall health.

  • Healthy Food Options: Making nutritious food easily accessible can support employee well-being.

  • Mental Health Support: Offering access to counseling services or mental health resources normalizes seeking help and addresses broader well-being needs.

By proactively integrating professional massage therapy and other well-being initiatives, companies can create a work environment where employees feel valued, supported, and empowered to prioritize their self-care, ultimately leading to a healthier, happier, and more productive workforce. Workforce Massage Therapy Programs are great for 15 to 30 minutes per employee including our Director Board Members.
